Kenny Chesney Reveals The Secret Project He's Been Working On

When Kenny Chesney recently took the stage to receive prizes BMI for its two back-to-back # 1 songs "Kids in America" and "until you lose," which surprised everyone with an unscheduled announcement on a new project that has been working on: He is putting the finishing touches to an album for legendary Nashville songwriter David Lee Murphy touches.

Murphy wrote Chesney hits "Crossbones", "Livin 'In Fast Forward", "I never wanted anything else," and "' til it's gone" and made a few punches of his own two decades ago with "Party Crowd" and "The dust in the bottle."

"David Lee is the original - and last - rock stars hillbilly," Chesney, who is currently in the Tour Great Awakening, said at the party. "And it has already been 20 'Party Crowd" and "Dust in the bottle,' so it's about time!"

Chesney, who serves as co-producer on the album titled No Zip and sings on the title track, also spoke with people about their history with Murphy.

"I met with David Lee when I was a young writer, I think I was playing seedy bars in the Lower Broad long before it was cool," says Chesney. "I had a lot to do, but would talk to you like you were doing it, too. I was very relaxed about success and business, but he knew how to work.

"I'll listen and think, 'ole boy that got it resolved." His songs really felt like people lived and loved it - the real and honest and simple it was.
