Kenny Chesney is not ashamed of his current thoughts on the state of country music.
The 46-year-old country star's amazing to speak against the songs "bro-country" feeling to have dominated the genre in recent years.
"In recent years, it seems that anytime someone sings about a woman, she is cutting jeans, drinking and a back door - which objectify the hell out of them," he told Billboard in a new interview. "Twenty years ago I might have written a song like that - but I'm probably at a point where I would say something different about women.”
Chesney refers to his latest album The Big Revival, which has her fans to see a much more mature collection of songs.
"I'm learning that when you write songs about women, the perfect place to start is your spirit," said Chesney ET in September when the album came out, in reference to his outstanding song "Wild Child", which is a stronger, more independent woman.
"I'm very excited about that song just what it says, because it allows a woman to be the last but not irresponsible free spirit," he continued. "I'm attracted to women that way."
"I'm at a point in my career where I cannot put together a collection of songs that sound great but mean nothing to anyone," also tells Billboard.
In the new candid interview, Chesney also sounds off on his contemporaries in country music as Blake Shelton and Keith Urban main shows like The Voice and American Idol join.
"I'm not knocking anyone who does, but I just do not ever see myself doing that," he says. "Tom Petty imagine being a judge on American Idol?"
These days, Chesney focuses exclusively on their upcoming tour, but also makes clear that despite his new album more mature, their performances do not lose the spirit of celebration that has become famous.
As the magazine notes, a show stage Chesney is often a full day experience for the fans, presented the first hours to tailgate.
"Everyone who is a part of No Shoes Nation, will go rattle his cage", says about the new tour, adding that his fans can still expect to hear him play his classic hits.
"When we go on the road, you'll feel like a rebirth, because I feel great," he told ET. "I feel very good about where I am in my life, my music, and when you are in that place in your life is much more fun on stage. I cannot wait to do that."
