The singer tells Rolling Stone he scrapped an entire album in the making process next release
To call the next album Kenny Chesney a labor of love can be a bit of an understatement. Superstar country known for its massive summer tours took a break from the road this year to focus on new music, and reports have been in the "non-stop" study.

"We are in the mixing process now, so that's exciting," he told Rolling Stone in a recent telephone interview. "I've been here since October last year, and we are still there .... I did a whole album and mixed it and threw it away. [Laughs] We have a better record for him now."
A title and release date of this album - studio album 16a Chesney - are still a secret. But he teased some of their first single, the mood enhancing "children in the United States."
"When I heard it, I knew I was going to cut," says the singer of the song, written by Rodney Clawson Music Row powers, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally. "It was unlike anything I'd ever heard - and I listen to a lot of songs, rhythms, images, how the melody moved .... Just grabs you and holds on.".
"We're all a little messy / But we're all right," he sings in the chorus of the track, which glorifies the happy-go-lucky type lifestyle Chesney sees most of its fans.
"These are people who no matter what you are in love with life, and they will see the good times no matter what.
"It's not a perfect world," he continues. "We're all a little fucked up, but we're all good. I love the idea of the screw as part of it, because honestly, makes parts that are great that much better. You appreciate things that much more."
"American Kids" is set to hit country radio on June 20 and digital retailers on June 23.
